ADVentura | An Adventure in Tobacco

ADVentura was founded by Swiss cigar retailer Marcel Knobel and Dominican master blender Henderson Ventura. Their paths first crossed in 2015 through a custom cigar project. By bringing together the art of tobacco blending and the spirit of maritime exploration, they gradually created one of the more distinctive names in the boutique cigar world.

From the original Explorer, Navigator, and Conqueror to The Royal Return, followed by Barbarroja, Blue Eyed Jack, and the latest Blackfin's Parlay, each collection represents a new chapter in an unfolding adventure, with its own story, personality, and blending philosophy.

Tabacalera Mina del Rey

In late 2023, ADVentura opened its own cigar factory, Tabacalera Mina del Rey, in Tamboril, Dominican Republic. From tobacco preparation and hand-rolling to the aging of finished cigars, the facility allows the brand to exercise more direct control over production and quality. Recent creations, including Blue Eyed Jack's Revenge and Blackfin's Parlay, have been crafted at this factory.

Blackfin's Parlay

Following Barbarroja's Invasion and Blue Eyed Jack's Revenge, the two rival pirate captains finally meet at the negotiating table. Blackfin's Parlay introduces a tense and intriguing truce, opening a new chapter in ADVentura's ongoing pirate saga.

First introduced in the 2025 Captain's Collection, the blend was subsequently refined by Henderson Ventura before joining the regular production lineup in 2026. Featuring an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Dominican binder and filler tobaccos grown on the brand's own farms, it represents another expression of ADVentura's tobacco cultivation and blending expertise.

The flavor profile opens with toasted grains, wood, nuts, and gentle pepper, developing a creamy texture and subtle spice through the middle. Complex yet measured in strength, Blackfin's Parlay appeals to those who appreciate aromatic depth and nuance over sheer intensity.

Special Releases & Side Stories

Beyond its main collections, ADVentura has introduced special creations such as The Chancellor and La Llorona. Inspired by the legendary weeping woman of Latin American folklore, La Llorona features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper blended with Dominican Medio Tiempo tobacco, delivering notes of chocolate, caramel, coffee, leather, and pepper. The series was originally introduced through the brand's select Elite Accounts retail partners.
