Eiroa Dark 30th Anniversary Robusto
For Christian Eiroa, thirty years isn't just a number, but the culmination of everything he's built, from the tobacco fields of the Jamastran Valley to where he is today. His family has cultivated Corojo for generations, and he personally oversees every step from seed to finished product. Since its inception, the Dark series has been the most direct expression of the Eiroa brand, offering deeper flavors from higher primings of the tobacco leaf.
To mark his thirtieth anniversary in the industry, Eiroa didn't simply re-release an old blend. Instead, he completely re-blended the Dark. Honduran Corojo remains the foundation, now joined by tobacco from the family's new farm in Colombia. The full recipe is intentionally left vague, revealing only the direction, but enough to pique curiosity about this anniversary edition—what changes does it hide within a familiar framework?
The Eiroa Dark 30th Anniversary Robusto opens with black pepper and earth, gradually transitioning into an intertwining of cocoa, toasted spices, and wood, representing a solemn presentation after thirty years of experience.
First Third: Cold draw reveals notes of earth and a hint of pepper. Once lit, the smoke is full-bodied, with black pepper and wood appearing first, accompanied by a subtle dark sweetness of cocoa. A direct and powerful start.
Second Third: Flavors gradually unfold. Cocoa becomes more pronounced, with toasted spices and nuts subtly emerging. Subtle notes of leather and sweetness can also be detected. The palate is rich, the smoke is plentiful, and the overall performance is solid and layered.
Final Third: The latter half maintains good consistency. The presence of black pepper and spices becomes stronger, with a long finish of cocoa and wood. The entire smoking experience is rich and satisfying.
