Casdagli (formerly Bespoke Cigars) represents the purest form of "aristocratic bespoke" cigars, founded in 1997 by Jeremy Casdagli, a descendant of a British-Finnish tobacco family. The brand's lineage traces back to the 19th-century Ottoman Empire, when the family traded Egyptian cotton and tobacco—Jeremy's great-grandfather owned a private cigar club in Cairo, rolling exclusive cigars for British officers and the Egyptian royal family. Currently, all cigars are 100% handcrafted at the top-tier boutique factories IGM (Industria de Tabacos Monte de Oro) in Costa Rica and Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic, with annual production strictly controlled to under 150,000 cigars. The tobacco leaves are carefully selected from rare farms that the family has long been committed to: Ecuadorian Desflorado Cloud Wrapper (the thinnest and oiliest young leaves in the world), Dominican Piloto Cubano aged 8-12 years, Nicaraguan Jalapa Criollo 98, Peruvian Pelado, and American Connecticut Broadleaf. All tobacco leaves are aged for at least 5 years, with the top batches aged up to 14 years. No artificial acceleration processes are used, and it is known as the "Savile Row of cigars".
Casdagli's main collections are streamlined and refined, and can be divided into the following five categories:
- The Daughters of the Wind series is known for its medium-to-high intensity and rich layers of flavor, with notes concentrated on honey, spices, dried fruit, herbs, and woody notes. It is one of the brand's most sought-after signature pieces, using Ecuadorian Habano wrappers and Peruvian/Dominican cores, making it suitable for connoisseurs who appreciate dynamic balance.
- Basilica series : leans towards higher strength, with prominent notes of leather, black pepper, cocoa, and roasted wood. It has a firm structure and is suitable for experienced smokers who prefer a strong flavor. It is made by Kelner Boutique Factory and features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a blend of Dominican/Nicaraguan/Peruvian/American cigars.
- Traditional Series : Retaining the classic European style, light to medium strength, with flavors dominated by nuts, hay, cream and light wood, it is an easy-to-smok, elegant and restrained option for everyday smoking. It features an Ecuadorian wrapper and Dominican/Peruvian/Nicaraguan filler, including the 25 Aniversario extension.
- Club Mareva Series : Developed in collaboration with world-renowned cigar clubs, this modern blend features more adventurous notes of spices, roasted, chocolate, and dried fruit, making it a favorite among discerning enthusiasts. It uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and a Costa Rican binder.
- The Corsage and Villa Casdagli series : leaning towards a blend of softness and complexity, characterized by a balance of spices, floral notes, oak, and sweetness, showcasing Casdagli's mastery of delicate flavors. Villa Casdagli is a limited-edition estate-style product, using a Desflorado wrapper and 12-year-old filler, and has repeatedly scored 95-97 points.
Casdagli positions itself as a "noble-level bespoke cigar," ranging in strength from medium to high, yet possessing the depth and refinement typically found only in top-tier full-strength cigars: cream, cedar, roasted almonds, honey, light floral notes, cocoa, and white pepper. The transition is silky smooth, with virtually no harshness, and the burn and ash are obsessively perfect. The reasons for choosing Casdagli are crystal clear: it has consistently been rated 94-97 points by *Cigar Journal* for many years, and Daughters of the Wind and Villa Casdagli have long been ranked among Europe's "Best Non-Cuban Cigars of the Year." For ultimate connoisseurs who are weary of commercialized giants and only accept truly rare, aged tobacco leaves and family-crafted traditions, Casdagli is not just a cigar, but an invitation to a private cigar club in 19th-century Cairo—every puff a private tribute to the era of aristocratic tobacco.
