Padrón is recognized in the cigar world as the "Nicaraguan legend." It was founded in Miami in 1964 by Cuban immigrant José Orlando Padrón. In the 1970s, to escape Cuban-style tobacco shortages and high taxes, José moved his production base to Estelí, Nicaragua, and established his own tobacco farm in the black volcanic soil region in the 1990s. Currently, all cigars are 100% handcrafted in their own factory in Estelí, and all tobacco leaves come from Nicaraguan farms strictly controlled by the Padrón family. All tobacco leaves undergo natural aging for at least 2.5 to 5 years, or even 10 years, ensuring ultimate smoothness and a zero-irritation sensation. Padrón never uses rapid fermentation techniques and never discloses specific blending recipes. This mystery and persistence have earned it an irreplaceable status. The brand's iconic hammer logo comes from a small hammer (el martillito) given to José by a friend when he first arrived in the United States. He used it for carpentry work, saving $600 to open his first factory; the hammer symbolizes resilience, integrity, and a commitment to quality, and is now embedded in the band and packaging, showcasing the family's legendary story of building an empire from adversity.

Padrón's main series are clear and classic, and can be divided into the following three categories:

1. Core Line (Padrón Series, also known as the Millennium Series): Includes 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, etc., as well as classic Delicias, Londres, Executive, Cortico, Magnum, and other sizes, offering medium to full-strength daily options;
2. Anniversary Line (1964 Anniversary Series): Established in 1994 to commemorate the brand's 30th anniversary, using 4-year aged Nicaraguan tobacco leaves, box-pressed, with representative sizes including Torpedo, Exclusivo, Diplomatico, Imperiale, Monarca, etc.;
3. Premium Limited Line (including the 1926 Serie and Family Reserve Series): The 1926 Serie was established in 2002 to commemorate José's 75th birthday, using 5-year aged tobacco leaves, box-pressed, with representative sizes including No. 1, No. 2, No. 6, No. 9, No. 90, etc.; the Family Reserve Series celebrates family milestones (such as the 45th, 50th, 85th anniversaries), using 10-year aged tobacco leaves, with one limited edition release per year, such as No.45 Natural/Maduro, No.50 Natural/Maduro, No.85 Año Natural, etc.;
4. There is also the Damaso series, which uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and is a rare mild-flavored sub-line.

Padrón is positioned as the benchmark for pure "medium-high to full-strength" Nicaraguan cigars, renowned for its ultimate balance, smoothness, and silkiness.
